8bitSplit is a personal utility tool for splitting restaurant bills, grocery costs, and shared household expenses among friends. It is not a financial service, payment platform, or accounting tool.
All calculations performed by 8bitSplit — including proportional splits, tax and tip distribution, debt consolidation, and settle-up amounts — are produced on a best-effort basis.
Always verify the amounts before making any payment. 8bitSplit does not constitute financial advice, and the creator holds no liability for any discrepancies, rounding differences, or losses arising from use of this tool.
Receipt scanning uses an AI vision model (Mistral AI) to extract item names and prices from photos. OCR results may be incomplete or incorrect, particularly for handwritten receipts, poor lighting, or non-standard receipt layouts.
Always review scanned items before calculating a split. 8bitSplit takes no responsibility for errors introduced during OCR processing.
You may use 8bitSplit for personal, non-commercial purposes among friends and family.
You may not use 8bitSplit to:
Process transactions for illegal goods or services.
Attempt to circumvent rate limits, security controls, or access restrictions.
Scrape, copy, redistribute, or build derivative products from this application or its source code.
Use the service in a way that disrupts availability for others.
8bitSplit is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. The service may be unavailable, slow (particularly on first load after inactivity, due to server cold starts), or produce incorrect results. The creator makes no guarantees about uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.
See the Privacy Policy for full details on what data is collected and how long it is kept. In brief: event data auto-deletes after 7 days, no cookies are used, and no personal accounts are required.
All code, design, and content in 8bitSplit is the proprietary property of Manas Bhattarai. It is not open-source. Unauthorized copying, modification, redistribution, or commercial use — in whole or in part — is prohibited.
